DarkMarsh Studios Project
A privacy-focused local search utility for Windows designed to find files by name or by what is written inside them. NovaScout indexes local content for fast retrieval while keeping the search process and indexed data on the user's own computer.
In DevelopmentBuilt for local search
NovaScout is aimed at making large local file collections easier to search without depending on cloud storage or sending private documents to an online service.
Fast filename discovery with fuzzy matching to help surface results even when a query is incomplete or slightly misspelled.
Search inside supported documents so a remembered phrase, topic, or detail can lead back to the original file.
Designed around local processing so indexed files and searches can remain on the host PC rather than being sent to a cloud service.
Results are ranked to prioritize stronger filename and content matches instead of simply returning a long unordered list.
Current development includes text, PDF, and ODT content extraction, with additional document formats planned.
The project is being built with database protection and encrypted-at-rest storage as an important part of the long-term design.
